ASG eyes two Thai booters

JAKARTA (JP): Professional soccer club Assyabaab Salim Group (ASG) of Surabaya will bring in Thailand's most powerful booters, midfielder Tawan Sriipan and striker Kiatsuk Sinamuang.

The skills of the two Thai players impressed Indonesian audiences when they played here last September in the Asian Youth Under-20 Soccer Championship, in which Thailand eventually finished third behind Syria and Japan.

ASG manager Susanto was quoted yesterday by Antara as saying he had contacted Thailand's manager but has not received any reply. ASG has until recently topped the East Division of the Indonesian League. The club, owned by the highly-diversified Salim Group, has 16 booters, three of whom are goalkeepers. (arf)
