ASEAN's Singh visits Brazil
BRASILIA (Reuter): The secretary-general of the Association of
South East Asian Nations arrives in Brazil today at the start of
a three-day visit to discuss ties, the Brazilian Foreign Ministry
said on Monday.
The ministry said in a statement that Ajit Singh, a former
Malaysian ambassador to Brazil, would hold talks with President
Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Foreign Minister Luiz Felipe
Lampreia in Brasilia tomorrow.
The main subject under discussion will be links between the
Asian group and the Mercosur trade bloc, comprised of Brazil,
Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
Singh heads to Sao Paulo on Thursday and leaves Brazil on
Friday, the Foreign Ministry said.
