ASEAN youth ship to visit Jakarta

JAKARTA: The Nippon Maru vessel with participants of the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme will anchor at Tanjung Priok port on a visit to Indonesia from Oct. 3 to Oct. 6, Antara reported on Friday.

More than 330 youths of ASEAN and Japan, including 28 Indonesian delegates, will be on board.

The vessel started its journey from Yokohama port on Sept. 9 stopping at the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. While harboring in Bangkok, capital city of Thailand, the participants flew to Laos.

After the four-day visit in Indonesia, the participants will sail to Singapore -- the last destination of their journey.

The youth program was started in January 1974, to enhance understanding and cooperation among the neighboring countries. --JP
