ASEAN immigration chiefs vow unity
BANGKOK (AFP): ASEAN immigration chiefs meeting in Myanmar pledged greater cooperation in the fight against international criminal gangs, said a statement from the ruling junta on Wednesday.
After two days of talks in Yangon, immigration department directors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) said there was an "urgent need for greater cooperation in ... the fight against transnational crime".
The delegates agreed to "establish a network among the immigration authorities in ASEAN, especially in the area of law enforcement", while still allowing for greater intra-ASEAN travel.
