ASEAN finance meeting

BANGKOK (Reuter): Thailand will host a meeting of ASEAN
Finance Ministers to boost cooperation within the seven-member
grouping from Nov. 21-23, a Finance Ministry official said
yesterday.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups
Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand
and Vietnam.

"The main topic at the meeting will be the liberalization of
the financial sector and cooperation in monetary and banking
policy among member countries," Somchai Richupan, director
general of the Fiscal Policy Office, told reporters.

The venue for the meeting has not been decided and he gave no
further details.
