ASEAN exhibition opens
JAKARTA (JP): Director General of Metal, Machinery and Electronic Industries Effendi Sudarsono opened yesterday a four- day ASEAN exhibition of pumps, piping, filtration, water and waste water treatment, and turbo-machinery.
The exhibition, held biennially by members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, displays products of more than 200 international manufacturers, distributors and retailers from 22 countries including Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the United States.
Dilys Yong, president of HQ Link Pte Ltd., the show organizer, said that the show in Indonesia is very timely because the country has recorded phenomenal growth in investment and human resource development.
She quoted Minister Tunky Ariwibowo as saying that out of the Rp 660 trillion (US$266.4 billion) of investment needed by Indonesia for its development programs during the current Sixth Five Year Development Plan (Repelita VI) period, beginning in 1994, about Rp 75.9 trillion will be allocated for industrial development.(kod)
