Asean energy talk in Hanoi
SINGAPORE (Dow Jones): Energy ministers of the Association of
Southeast Asian Nations will meet June 28 in Hanoi to discuss
developing clean energy sources, Asean's power grid project and
ways assist members hit by the regional financial crisis, the
Vietnam News, an English language daily, reported Tuesday.
The ministers will be taking part in the 18th annual Asean
energy conference, the newspaper reported, which is being held in
Vietnam for the first time.
Also in Hanoi, the Nikkei reported last week, Japan energy
policy makers and the Asean energy ministers will meet to
establish a consultative body to work out cooperation in the
field of energy development.
This first official energy forum between Japan and Asean will
be held June 30 in Hanoi.
In a joint communique to be adopted at the meeting, the two
sides will commit themselves to closer collaboration in
developing natural gas reserves.
