PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), the main branch in Bakauheni, continues to strengthen safety standards for passenger and logistics ferry services to ensure reliable operations amid extreme weather conditions in the Sunda Strait during the 2026 Lebaran holiday exodus.

The measures include comprehensive weather monitoring, fleet readiness assessments, and coordination with port authorities. According to Partogi Tamba, General Manager of PT ASDP’s Bakauheni branch, the Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) serves as a key partner in monitoring current weather developments in the Sunda Strait.

Tamba stated that extreme weather frequently affects the Sunda Strait waters, which is why ASDP remains committed to strengthening safety protocols in all ferry operations, covering both passenger transport and logistics services. The company has reinforced coordination with relevant stakeholders, including BMKG, the police, and the Land Transportation Management Centre (BPTD), to anticipate risks and guarantee passenger safety.

ASDP consistently conducts weather monitoring, vessel readiness inspections, and coordination with the Harbormaster’s Office (KSOP), BPTD, BMKG, and military and police personnel before each departure. The company has been granted direct access to BMKG data to monitor current conditions in the Sunda Strait. Passenger safety is ASDP’s top priority, and the operator is collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure optimal ferry services.

The company has urged all users to monitor weather information and follow instructions from port personnel. “ASDP is committed to providing excellent service and ensuring that community mobility remains smooth, safe, and orderly,” Tamba said.
