ASDP Ternate Resumes KMP Lompa Operations After Docking
Ambon (ANTARA) - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero)’s Ternate branch in North Maluku has resumed operating KMP Lompa after the vessel underwent about a month of maintenance, restoring ferry services from Bastiong Port in Ternate city to several areas in South Halmahera Regency.
The company’s Ternate branch general manager, Erlisetya Wahyudi, said in Ternate on Saturday that KMP Lompa had returned to service on Wednesday (7 October), operating routes to Moti Island, Makian Island, Kayoa Island, Babang Port on Bacan Island, and Saketa Port in Gane Barat, South Halmahera Regency.
“KMP Lompa is a pioneering ferry serving several crossing routes from Bastiong Port to islands in South Halmahera Regency,” he said.
He explained that after entering dry dock on 1 September, the vessel was now ready to carry passengers, vehicles and inter-island logistics.
Erlisetya said the ferry’s frequency followed a set schedule. During the first week of each month, KMP Lompa makes two crossings, followed by three in the second week.
It makes two crossings in the third week and returns to three crossings in the fourth week.
On maritime safety, he said vessels operating in North Maluku had been inspected by a team from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation and declared seaworthy.
He also urged people using ferry services to comply with safety requirements to ensure security and comfort during their journeys.
According to him, following safety rules is a shared responsibility that supports smooth sailing and helps keep all ferry passengers safe.
