ASDP Temporarily Closes Ferry Port in Penajam Paser Utara for Rehabilitation
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) is temporarily suspending operations at the Penajam ferry port, located in the Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regency, East Kalimantan. The state-owned enterprise manages the facility, which consists of two piers.
According to an official letter (No: UM.003/00231/VI/ASDP-BPP/2026) dated 1 June 2026, signed by the General Manager of Balikpapan, Muhammad Ramadhani Hadi Saputra, the closure is necessary to support maintenance and facility upgrades. These works are intended to guarantee safety, security, and the smooth flow of ferry operations.
Specifically, Pier 2 will be closed for concrete work on the breaching dolphin, while Pier 1 will undergo rehabilitation of its moveable bridge. To minimise disruptions to ferry services, the closures will be implemented rotationally according to a set schedule.
During the maintenance period, vessel berthing and operational activities will be diverted to the remaining operational pier, with schedules to be coordinated by port authorities and ship operators. ASDP has requested all ship operators and relevant stakeholders to adjust their operational patterns and sailing schedules in accordance with port official instructions.
The schedule for the works is as follows: concrete work on breaching dolphins 1 and 2 at Pier 2 will take place from 5 to 14 June 2026, while the rehabilitation of moveable bridge 1 at Pier 1 is scheduled from 17 June to 4 July 2026.
ASDP expressed hope for the cooperation of all parties to ensure the works are completed safely, orderly, and on target, while maintaining optimal service for all passengers and users.
