PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has temporarily halted ferry services across the Ketapang (Banyuwangi)-Gilimanuk (Bali) route. This closure serves as a mark of respect for Nyepi Day on the island of Bali. On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, staff at PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry’s Ketapang Branch in Banyuwangi, East Java, closed the port entrance at exactly 5:00 PM WIB. “Precisely at 5:00 PM WIB today, the crossing from Ketapang Port to Gilimanuk Port has been temporarily closed starting today and will reopen on Friday, 20 March 2026, at 5:00 AM WIB,” said Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Aan Suhanan, at Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Meanwhile, from Gilimanuk Port (Bali), Aan Suhanan stated, crossing activities will be temporarily suspended starting on Thursday, 19 March 2026, at 5:00 AM WITA. Operations will resume on Friday, 20 March, at 6:00 AM WITA. This operational adjustment, he continued, is part of national transportation arrangements to maintain order and respect the implementation of Catur Brata Penyepian on the island of Bali. “The temporary closure of the crossing from Ketapang to Gilimanuk, including ticket sales this afternoon, is to accelerate the distribution of vehicle transport to Gilimanuk,” said Aan Suhanan. From observations, the main parking area at Ketapang Port began to empty of vehicles after ASDP announced the temporary closure of the crossing between Java and Bali to honour the Nyepi Day celebration in Bali.
