PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has stated it is taking precautions against extreme weather in the Bali Strait, which connects Gilimanuk Port in Jembrana Regency, Bali, with Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java.

“Changes in weather conditions in the Bali Strait have necessitated adjustments to ship operations, particularly during berthing and loading/unloading manoeuvres, which must be carried out with greater caution,” said Corporate Secretary Windy Andale in Jembrana on Sunday.

The situation has led to vehicle queues at several points around the ports.

However, the company assured that measures are being implemented swiftly and systematically to keep vehicle flow moving.

It understands that increased waiting times for vessels are a concern for users, but in dynamic weather conditions, all service processes must prioritise caution.

“Safety cannot be compromised and is the top priority for every crossing,” she said.

This assessment includes strengthening maritime safety procedures, adjusting ship operation patterns, and ensuring field staff readiness.

To address vehicle congestion, the Bulusan parking area, capable of holding 400 trucks, will be fully utilised.

“Officers will be stationed at critical points to ensure vehicles keep moving and avoid prolonged standstills,” she said.

Additionally, an extra vessel, the KMP Rodhita, with a capacity of up to 58 small vehicles or around 30 mixed vehicles, will be deployed.

Arief Eko Kurniansjah, General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Ketapang, said the primary focus is maintaining orderly and phased vehicle distribution.

“Even with queues, vehicles must keep moving. That is the priority. Therefore, we ensure all vehicle management patterns are coordinated to keep port congestion under control,” he said.
