In anticipation of the school holiday period, which is expected to boost public mobility, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) is strengthening the readiness of its ferry services on various strategic routes, particularly Merak–Bakauheni. The reinforcement is carried out through fleet optimisation, service quality improvements, and enhanced safety aspects to ensure public travel is safe, comfortable, and smooth. As the backbone of inter-regional and inter-island connectivity, ASDP continues to ensure all operational aspects are ready to serve the public’s needs during the holiday season. This step is part of the company’s commitment to providing reliable ferry services amid the increasing volume of vehicles and passengers. ASDP President Director Heru Widodo affirmed that the safety, security, and comfort of service users remain the company’s top priorities in facing the school holiday period. “We have made thorough preparations to ensure ferry services during the school holiday period run safely, smoothly, and comfortably. Safety is the main priority that underpins every aspect of the company’s operations. Therefore, we ensure all fleets, facilities, and personnel are in optimal condition to serve the public,” said Heru. To anticipate the increase in public mobility, ASDP is optimising fleet and port readiness, strengthening operational personnel and customer service preparedness, improving the quality of travel information, accelerating complaint handling, and tightening coordination with all stakeholders to maintain the smooth flow of vehicles and passengers. On the service side, ASDP also continues to deliver an increasingly comfortable travel experience through various supporting facilities at ports, such as air-conditioned waiting rooms, charging stations, massage chairs, prayer facilities, and a variety of food and beverage tenants that service users can enjoy while waiting for departure. ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale explained that in addition to ensuring operational readiness, ASDP is supporting the government’s economic stimulus programme by providing a 100 percent discount on port service fees, equivalent to an average of 21.9 percent of the total ferry ticket fare. The programme applies to foot passengers, Class II vehicles, and Class IVA vehicles on seven ferry routes, including Merak–Bakauheni for both regular and express services. “Ticket purchases with the discounted fare have been open since 6 June 2026 for the travel period of 20 June to 5 July 2026. The public can obtain further information through ASDP’s official channels, including the Instagram account @asdp191,” Windy explained. The commitment to safety is also realised through ASDP’s full support for the implementation of ship seaworthiness spot checks conducted by the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation together with the Marine Inspector of KSOP Class I Banten at Merak Port on 10–12 June 2026. KMP Legundi was one of the vessels inspected to ensure service readiness during the 2026 School Holiday Transport period. “We fully support the implementation of ship seaworthiness spot checks. Safety is the main foundation of ferry service operations, and all recommendations given will be followed up promptly in accordance with applicable regulations,” Windy stressed. This is in line with the statement of the Director of Shipping and Seafaring, Samsuddin, who emphasised that spot checks are a routine preventive measure to ensure all passenger ship fleets meet safety and seaworthiness standards, especially ahead of periods of increased public mobility during school holidays. To support smooth travel, ASDP is also optimising the use of the Ferizy digital platform as the official channel for booking ferry tickets. The public is urged to plan their journeys early, purchase tickets in advance, and ensure the accuracy of identity data and vehicle documents when making a booking to speed up the verification process at the port. “We urge the public to plan their journeys earlier to obtain a departure schedule that suits their needs. Ensure all data entered when booking tickets matches your personal identity and valid vehicle documents so that the travel process can proceed more smoothly,” Windy added. Through strengthening safety aspects, improving service quality, and supporting government programmes, ASDP is committed to delivering reliable and memorable ferry services. With continuously reinforced readiness, ASDP hopes that public travel during the school holidays can take place safely, smoothly, comfortably, and enjoyably from start to destination.
