State-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) is strengthening its crossing services on various strategic routes in preparation for the school holiday period, which is expected to boost public mobility, especially on the Merak–Bakauheni route. The enhancements are being carried out through fleet optimisation, improved service quality, and reinforced safety aspects to ensure that public travel is safe, comfortable, and smooth.

ASDP President Director Heru Widodo emphasised that the safety, security, and comfort of service users remain the company’s top priority during the school holiday period. “We have made thorough preparations to ensure that ferry services during the school holiday period run safely, smoothly, and comfortably. Safety is the main priority that underpins every aspect of the company’s operations. Therefore, we are ensuring that all fleets, facilities, and personnel are in a state of readiness to serve the public optimally,” Heru stated on Sunday, 14 June 2026.

To anticipate the increase in public mobility, ASDP is optimising fleet and port readiness, strengthening the preparedness of operational personnel and customer service, improving the quality of travel information, accelerating complaint handling, and enhancing coordination with all stakeholders to maintain the smooth flow of vehicles and passengers.

In terms of services, ASDP continues to provide an increasingly comfortable travel experience through various supporting facilities at ports, such as air-conditioned waiting rooms, charging stations, massage chairs, prayer facilities, and a variety of food and beverage outlets that passengers can enjoy while waiting for departure.

ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale explained that in addition to ensuring operational readiness, ASDP is also supporting the government’s economic stimulus programme by offering a 100 percent discount on port service fees, equivalent to an average of 21.9 percent of the total ferry ticket price. The programme applies to foot passengers, Class II vehicles, and Class IVA vehicles on seven ferry routes, including Merak–Bakauheni for both regular and express services. “Ticket purchases with the discounted fare have been available since 6 June 2026 for the travel period from 20 June to 5 July 2026. The public can obtain further information through ASDP’s official channels, including the Instagram account @asdp191,” Windy clarified.
