PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry has removed the distance requirement from ports, or geofencing, when purchasing ferry tickets. This measure aims to optimise ticket sales and prevent ticket scalping.

“There is no longer any [distance requirement]. We have removed the geofencing. So now the public can also book from anywhere,” said Heru Widodo, Chief Executive of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, on Monday (16 March 2026).

Prospective passengers can now purchase tickets from any location, including at the port itself. The company seeks to ensure passengers do not use scalpers operating around ports.

“The important thing is that we want to ensure that tickets purchased are done independently and online. Not through intermediaries or scalpers,” he said.

Additionally, Widodo stated that the public need not worry about ticket validity expiring due to departure times. During the Lebaran exodus period, ASDP provides flexibility.

“So the public need not worry if, for example, there is a delay in arrival, or if they arrive too early because, for example, the roads are clear, and so on. We also allow flexibility,” he said.

During the Lebaran exodus, from H-minus 8 to H-plus 12 days around the holiday, departure schedules can be increased or reduced.

“So from H-minus 8 until H-plus 12. So departure tickets can be used up to 12 hours after the scheduled departure, or used as early as 8 hours before the departure time,” he said.
