ASDP Records 36,647 Vehicles Crossing During May 2025 Long Weekend
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) recorded a surge in passenger and vehicle traffic on several major national routes, especially on the Java-Sumatra and Bali corridors during the Ascension of Jesus Christ 2026 long weekend holiday period.
Between Wednesday (May 13th, 2026) and Sunday (May 17th, 2026) at 14:00 WIB, the Merak-Bakauheni route served 133,248 passengers and 36,647 vehicles.
Meanwhile, on the return flow of Bakauheni-Merak, as many as 118,383 passengers and 32,994 vehicles were served.
The passenger traffic increased by 19.5 percent and vehicle traffic increased by 18.3 percent on the return flow of Bakauheni-Merak.
President Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Heru Widodo, said that the high traffic during the long holiday reflected increasing public confidence in ferry services that are becoming more modern, organised, and integrated.
“Ferries are now an important part of people’s travel style because they offer flexibility, efficiency, and an increasingly comfortable and safe travel experience,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (May 17th, 2026).
ASDP recorded that 96,858 passengers and 26,258 vehicles crossed during the long holiday period.
On Thursday (May 14th, 2026), passenger traffic on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route increased by 47.1 percent, while vehicle traffic increased by 25.1 percent.
Meanwhile, on the return flow of Gilimanuk-Ketapang, as many as 90,759 passengers and 26,317 vehicles were served, with an increase in passenger traffic reaching 33.2 percent and vehicle traffic increasing by 11.4 percent.
“We ensure that all services run optimally by prioritizing the safety, security, and comfort of users. Operational improvements are carried out comprehensively through intensive coordination with regulators, ship operators, security forces, and all related stakeholders,” he explained.
The company also improved the quality of service facilities at ports, ranging from air-conditioned waiting rooms, charging stations, children’s play areas, places of worship, to food and beverage tenants.
In addition, ASDP continues to optimise the Ferizy digital platform which allows ticket booking up to 60 days in advance, more organised travel schedules, and a faster and more efficient check-in process.
