Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has recorded 327,646 passengers returning to Java from Sumatra during the post-Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah return flow, reflecting the high mobility of the public across major national ferry crossings.

ASDP President Director Heru Widodo stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that, based on data from the Lebaran Transport Command Post, cumulatively from 22 March to 25 March 2026 at 14:00 WIB (H to H+3), 327,646 passengers have returned to Java island.

He noted that this figure represents 36.4% compared to the total passengers during the outbound mudik flow (H-10 to H), which reached 898,864 people.

Meanwhile, the total vehicles returning from Sumatra to Java reached 89,389 units, or about 37% compared to the total vehicles during the outbound mudik flow, recorded at 239,920 units.

“This data shows that the return flow will continue to move and is expected to increase in the coming days,” he said.

He explained that the return flow movement for Lebaran 2026 from Sumatra to Java is starting to show a significant increase amid high post-holiday mobility.

According to him, as the return flow traffic begins to form, the company ensures that crossing operations run smoothly, both in terms of fleet readiness and service to users.

“Coordination with all stakeholders continues to be strengthened so that passenger and vehicle movements remain controlled,” he said.

To anticipate surges, ASDP has prepared various strategic measures, from operating vessels adjusted to density schemes, readiness of contingency plans through the provision of tugboats and 24-hour standby technicians, to the implementation of the Arrive-Unload-Depart (TBB) pattern to speed up service times during dense conditions.

Not only focusing on operational smoothness, ASDP also provides additional comfort for service users at ports.

ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale added that various facilities have been prepared, ranging from food and beverage tenants, souvenir centres, air-conditioned rooms, massage chairs, sofas, vending machines, to children’s play areas.

“Children can play games, colouring activities, singing, listening to stories, and receiving gift packages as a form of our attention,” she explained.

Meanwhile, the movement from Java to Sumatra recorded 47,052 passengers, up 24.7% from the previous year, with a total of 10,110 vehicles, up 20.4% from the previous year.

With operational readiness and services continuously optimised, ASDP is committed to maintaining the smoothness of the Lebaran return flow so that every journey for service users runs smoothly, safely, comfortably, and memorably.
