ASDP predicts vehicle numbers during peak return flow to reach 27 thousand
South Lampung (ANTARA) - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) states that it has predicted the number of returning vehicles during the peak of the Eid al-Fitr holiday return flow in 2026 to reach 27,000.
ASDP’s President Director Heru Widodo in Bakauheni on Saturday said that the peak of the second wave of Eid al-Fitr return flow is predicted to occur on 28-29 March 2026.
“Our prediction for tonight is that the number of vehicles crossing to Java Island via Bakauheni Port will reach 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles,” he said.
He explained that with about 30 percent of service users yet to return, the potential for surges in close proximity is a primary concern.
“I convey that the number of passenger reservations from 00:00 WIB to 15:30 WIB today has already reached 18,000 vehicles. I am confident that the characteristic of passengers travelling at night remains high,” he said.
According to him, to anticipate this, ASDP is strengthening adaptive operational patterns, including the implementation of the Tiba-Bongkar-Berangkat (TBB) scheme to accelerate ship turnaround during increased density.
“If tonight is the peak, we will implement the Tiba Bongkar Berangkat (TBB) scheme; ships carrying passengers from Bakauheni, upon arrival in Merak, will unload and immediately return to Bakauheni,” he stated.
He explained that vehicle flow control is also being strengthened through a delaying system and traffic diversion in several strategic buffer zones.
Therefore, he advised the public planning to cross from Bakauheni Port to Merak in Banten to understand the extreme weather conditions currently affecting almost the entire region of Indonesia.
