ASDP Optimises Online Ticketing to Combat Ticket Scalping at Ports

Cilegon — PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) continues to optimise its online ticketing sales system as the primary measure to eliminate ticket scalping practices still found in port areas.

Chief Executive Officer Heru Widodo, speaking in Cilegon, Banten on Monday, stated that the presence of scalpers causes significant harm to shipping operators, both operationally and in terms of public trust. Consequently, the company is strengthening coordination with law enforcement agencies to rid port areas of such illegal practices.

“Shipping operators are severely harmed by these individuals. We, together with the police and law enforcement authorities, will take action against scalpers still operating in port areas,” said Heru.

Heru explained that the digital transformation through online ticketing was actually implemented as early as 2020. With the system having operated for six years, the public is expected to be familiar with and understand the ticket purchase procedure without using intermediaries.

“The public should already know that our tickets have been sold online for six years. We urge the public to purchase tickets independently and not through intermediaries,” he emphasised.

Regarding the impact of scalping practices, Heru stressed that the greatest damage the company suffers is to its reputation. Efforts to maintain the good name of the service, built through years of digitalisation, are disrupted by individuals seeking illegal profits.

“We have maintained our reputation for six years selling tickets online. If scalpers continue to operate, it certainly has a negative impact on our reputation and credibility,” Heru said.

ASDP management has confirmed it will not tolerate ticket scalping practices, particularly at critical crossing points. The company is committed to continuously promoting the use of its official application to service users to ensure schedule certainty and transparent ticket pricing.
