ASDP Ketapang prepares 55 vessels for Lebaran exodus
Banyuwangi, East Java – PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Ketapang branch in Banyuwangi, East Java, is preparing 55 ferry vessels to manage the anticipated surge in traffic during the 2026 Lebaran exodus.
General Manager of ASDP Ketapang Branch Arief Eko Kurnianjah explained that ferry operations on the Ketapang (Banyuwangi)–Gilimanuk (Bali) route would be adjusted based on field conditions, ranging from normal to peak capacity.
“During normal conditions, 28 vessels operate. During peak periods, this increases to 32 vessels to strengthen service capacity and maintain smooth flow during the exodus,” he said in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Thursday.
According to Arief, the total number of docks on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route is 17 (comprising multi-purpose and landing craft docks), with eight at Ketapang Port and nine at Gilimanuk Port.
He added that ASDP Ketapang is also preparing buffer zones for holiday travellers during the 2026 Lebaran exodus.
“From the north (Situbondo–Banyuwangi), buffer zones are located at Grand Watu Dodol and Terminal Sri Tanjung, whilst from the south (Banyuwangi–Situbondo), there is a parking area at ASDP’s facility in Bulusan Village,” Arief said.
As of Thursday, nine days before Lebaran, traffic at the Ketapang–Gilimanuk crossing had increased by 14 per cent compared to previous days.
“By today, the exodus traffic has begun to increase, and vehicles crossing from Ketapang to Gilimanuk and vice versa remain dominated by logistics trucks,” Arief said.
Observations at Ketapang Ferry Port on the ninth day before Lebaran showed relatively light traffic, with crossing vehicles still predominantly logistics trucks.
