ASDP Ketapang operates 34 ferries to ease density during return flow
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Ketapang Branch, Banyuwangi, East Java, is operating 34 vessels to accelerate the reduction of congestion amid the surge on H+8 Lebaran 2026, or Monday. Of the 34 operating vessels, 22 are implementing the arrive-unload-depart (TBB) pattern at Dock III, MB 4 Dock, LCM, and Bulusan Dock, supported by four auxiliary vessels to speed up rotations and maintain a stable service rhythm. “The key to controlling density is not solely the number of vessels, but the speed of service at each point, and our focus is to ensure the process runs quickly and continuously. Through the TBB pattern, vessels do not linger at the dock, allowing vehicles to be served promptly and keep moving,” said Deputy Director Yossianis Marciano of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) in Banyuwangi on Monday. To support service acceleration, he continued, vessel unloading and loading times are continuously optimised with an average duration of around 35 minutes per service cycle. With shorter durations and maintained operational discipline, vessel rotations can occur more quickly, significantly increasing service capacity. Yossi stated that during peak return flow conditions, queues are unavoidable, but as long as movement is maintained, waiting times can be significantly reduced. Amid the strengthening return flow on H+8 Lebaran 2026, Yossi said, the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route remains dynamically operational, with ASDP positioning service acceleration as the primary strategy to keep vehicle flow running and controlled. Based on monitoring at 14:00 WIB, vehicle queues reached around 5.8 km from the access to Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, dominated by small vehicles, medium trucks, large trucks, and buses continuously moving towards the port. Data from the Lebaran Transport Post at Ketapang Port over 24 hours from 29 March 2026 at 00:00 WIB to 23:59 WIB, or H+7 Lebaran, recorded 212 vessel trips at Ketapang Port. The total realisation of passengers crossing from Java to Bali on H+7 Lebaran reached 56,365 people, up 12.9 percent from the same period last year. Meanwhile, the realisation of two-wheeled vehicles that crossed on H+7 Lebaran reached 12,458 units, up 57 percent from last year’s realisation of 7,936 units. Four-wheeled vehicles reached 4,995 units, down 0.6 percent from the same period last year, which was 5,023 units. Then, the total trucks that crossed reached 1,192 units, down 27.8 percent from the same period last year, which was 1,652 units. Meanwhile, the total passenger buses that crossed reached 412 units, down 16.1 percent from the same period last year, which was 491 units.
