PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) is strengthening the Ketapang (Banyuwangi)-Gilimanuk (Bali) ferry service ahead of the 2026 Idul Adha holiday by deploying the auxiliary vessel KMP Rodhita. General Manager Arief Eko stated in Banyuwangi on Sunday that the addition of the auxiliary vessel KMP Rodhita, previously operating on the Padangbai (Bali)-Lembar (Lombok) route, is to anticipate potential increases in vehicle and passenger volume at Ketapang and Gilimanuk ports. ‘The auxiliary ferry vessel measures 1,236 GT and has a capacity to carry up to 58 small vehicles or approximately 30 mixed vehicles, and is expected to help maintain smooth ferry operations during the Idul Adha holiday period,’ he said. Arief emphasised that the main focus on the ground is ensuring gradual and orderly vehicle distribution, with queues remaining in motion. ‘That is the most important aspect; therefore, we ensure all vehicle management patterns are coordinated to keep port congestion under control,’ he added. ‘The northern route from Situbondo, which previously experienced queues up to Grand Watu Dodol, has now returned to normal with logistics vehicles accommodated at Bulusan Port area,’ he said. Arief added that ASDP Ketapang Branch is also optimising the parking facilities at Bulusan Port as part of integrated traffic management, capable of accommodating up to 400 logistics trucks. ‘Additional BKO personnel have been deployed at key points to ensure vehicle flow continues without long stagnation,’ he said. Arief urged travellers planning to cross during the 1447 Hijriah Idul Adha holiday to plan journeys in advance, purchase tickets via the Ferizy app before arriving at the port, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition for a safe and comfortable trip.
