ASDP implements phased sterilisation of Merak-Bakauheni Ports
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has begun implementing a phased sterilisation of the Merak and Bakauheni ports as part of its efforts to strengthen national ferry service transformation.
“This policy is being implemented in phases through a trial period starting Monday (1 June), before full enforcement on 15 June 2026,” said ASDP President Director Heru Widodo in a statement issued in Jakarta on Monday.
He said the strategic move is part of the company’s commitment to delivering safer, more orderly, and modern port management, while supporting smooth public mobility and national logistics distribution.
The port area sterilisation policy is implemented in accordance with relevant regulations, including Law No. 17 of 2008 on Shipping, Presidential Regulation No. 55 of 2019 on Accelerating Electric Vehicle Battery-Based Programs, and ASDP Indonesia Ferry’s Board Decision No. 62 of 2022 on Ferry Port Area Zoning, he added.
He stressed that the port sterilisation is not merely operational area management but part of the company’s service transformation focused on passenger safety, security, and comfort.
“Implementing this policy reflects our commitment to delivering more orderly, safe, and modern port governance,” he said.
