ASDP evaluates ferry delay in docking at Bakauheni
Cilegon (ANTARA) - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) is giving serious attention to a viral video on social media showing the frustration of motorbike repatriates aboard a ferry. The incident was triggered by a delay in the ferry’s docking process at Bakauheni Port, Lampung.
ASDP’s President Director, Heru Widodo, in Cilegon on Thursday, provided clarification that the event, which occurred on Thursday morning, involved a fleet owned by a private operator. The company is now delving into the chronology of the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the operational issue.
“Regarding the viral incident on social media today about motorbike repatriates who briefly clashed because the ferry was not docking, that was actually a private ferry,” Heru stated.
In response to the situation, ASDP is committed to conducting a comprehensive evaluation. This process will be carried out collaboratively with the Harbourmaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) as the crossing regulator.
“We will communicate with the KSOP to continue the evaluation and request an explanation for the delay,” he added.
This incident serves as an important note for all ferry operators serving the Merak-Bakauheni and Ciwandan-Bakauheni routes. ASDP emphasises the importance of transparent communication between the crew and passengers during sea-related issues.
ASDP’s management urges all service users to remain calm and follow the instructions of the officers. On the other hand, ferry operators are asked to continuously improve their on-time performance to ensure the smooth flow of safe and comfortable repatriation travel.
