Tangerang Regency, Banten — PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has confirmed readiness to ensure optimal ferry crossing services during the Eid 2026 holiday period.

ASDP Chief Executive Heru Widodo stated this would be accomplished through strengthening service posts and transport control facilities provided at several points leading to Merak and Ciwandan ports, which serve as the main crossings between Java and Sumatra islands.

“We want to ensure that our service posts are prepared in good condition to serve the public, especially those without tickets. They can make ticket reservations here,” Heru said whilst inspecting a service post at Rest Area KM 43 on the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road, Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday.

He stated that ASDP services through integrated service posts would be fully prepared to meet all needs of inter-island ferry users.

The company provides various facilities including information services relating to ferry crossings, rest areas, and ticket sales for Eid homecoming travel needs.

“We also want to ensure that the service here is of high quality, so that ferry users can use our service posts comfortably,” he said.

Heru noted that passenger flow movements beginning from eight days before Eid al-Fitr, or Friday (13 March 2026), have already begun showing increases at both Merak and Ciwandan ports, though conditions remain relatively normal.

“There is already an increase at present. However, it remains insignificant,” he said.

From this increase in passenger activity, passenger increases are dominated by private vehicles, resulting in a five per cent increase from the projected peak of 9.3 per cent for the Eid transport period.

According to him, the peak period for passenger movement at Merak-Ciwandan ports will occur on 18-19 March 2026.

“The increase so far remains relatively manageable, around five per cent. Our prediction is that the peak homecoming flow will occur on 18 and 19 March,” he stated.

On this occasion, Heru reminded ferry service users to prepare themselves and choose appropriate travel times to avoid congestion during departures.

“I urge all travellers to prepare their travel times carefully. Ensure vehicles are in good condition, maintain good physical health, so that the homecoming journey can run safely, comfortably, orderly, and smoothly,” he said.
