ASDP Ensures Readiness for Eid Homecoming Crossings in Kepri
Jakarta – PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has confirmed its readiness for Eid holiday homecoming services in 2026 in the Riau Islands, with preparations including fleet readiness, port upgrades, and staffing arrangements to anticipate increased public mobility during the period.
Chief Executive Officer Heru Widodo stated that the Riau Islands region plays a strategic role in the national transportation system, particularly during the Eid homecoming period, which is characterised by a surge in passenger and vehicle movements.
“The characteristics of archipelago regions require precise operational planning. For this reason, we are strengthening our fleet, increasing voyage frequencies, and arranging operational patterns systematically,” said Heru in a statement issued in Jakarta on Monday.
He noted that in archipelago regions such as the Riau Islands Province, homecoming journeys are not merely intercity transfers but rather utilise the sea as the primary route connecting families, economic activities, and community hopes across islands.
Based on data from ASDP’s Batam Branch, ferry transport production during the 2026 Eid period at Telaga Punggur Port and Tanjung Uban Port is projected to increase by approximately 15 per cent compared with the previous year.
At Telaga Punggur Port, traffic is estimated to reach 64,483 passengers and 18,210 vehicles, whilst Tanjung Uban Port is projected to serve 61,822 passengers and 17,666 vehicles.
Both ports operate various routes supported by reliable vessels, including KMP Barau, KMP Tanjung Burang, KMP Mulia Nusantara, KMP Niaga Ferry II, KMP Lome, KMP Sembilang, KMP Satria Pratama, KMP Senangin, KMP Teluk Singkil, KMP Bahtera Nusantara 01, and KMP Bahtera Nusantara 03.
