ASDP is deploying the assistance ferry KMP Prima Nusantara, owned by PT Jembatan Nusantara (JN), to the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route to address congestion at Gilimanuk Port, Bali. Deputy Director Yossianis Marciano of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) stated that this deployment is a concrete step to restore services at the location.

“We are also continuously optimising vessel operations to ensure the crossing process runs more quickly and queues can be reduced,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

According to ASDP data, congestion stretching 11 kilometres was still occurring at 10:00 WITA from Melaya Village to Gilimanuk Port. The congestion began to ease after transport capacity was increased.

The government, along with the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps and ASDP, is accelerating on-site handling through the operation of large-capacity vessels, addition of fleet to 35 units, optimisation of buffer zones, and implementation of the arrive-unload-depart (TBB) system. Restrictions on goods transport, particularly trucks with three axles and above, are also key to ensuring smooth vehicle flow to the port.

General Manager of ASDP’s Ketapang Branch, Arief Eko, said operational arrangements are being carried out dynamically according to field conditions. “We are continuously adjusting docking and loading/unloading patterns to make vessel movements more efficient and reduce queues gradually,” he stated.

ASDP will continue to coordinate with stakeholders to ensure smooth vehicle flow during the Eid transport period. Drivers are also urged to follow instructions from on-site officers.

Previously, the Gilimanuk Post recorded 25,105 vehicles crossing from Bali to Java on 17 March 2026, during the homecoming flow. This figure represents a 1.6 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. A significant rise was seen in two-wheeled vehicles, reaching 16,909 units, up 7.2 per cent.

Total ferry trips on Tuesday reached 243, with 74,263 passengers. Four-wheeled vehicles numbered 6,016 units, trucks 1,586 units, and buses 594 units.

Cumulatively from H-10 to H-4 of Eid 2026, total passengers reached 383,398, up 0.3 per cent. Meanwhile, total vehicles reached 122,892 units, an increase of 2.6 per cent compared to last year.
