ASDP Contributes to Development of Indonesia's Frontier, Outermost, and Least Developed Regions

State-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has contributed to the development of the 3T (frontier, outermost, and least developed) regions across various sectors, including connectivity, tourism, logistics distribution, and the local economy. “The company’s presence is greatly needed in various regions because it has a positive impact,” said ASDP Regional 4 Executive Director Syamsudin during a press tour in Luwuk, Central Sulawesi, on Wednesday. To support regional connectivity, the company links growth centres, archipelagic areas, and remote regions, making transportation access faster, safer, and more affordable. In boosting the tourism sector, ASDP facilitates access to leading destinations such as Banggai Laut Regency, Banggai Islands Regency, and Tojo Una-Una Regency, which possess significant marine and island tourism potential. Regarding logistics distribution, the company ensures the smooth flow of staple goods like rice and other essentials, as well as regional commodities such as copra, coconut, fisheries, and agricultural products to various markets. Syamsudin stated that the company promotes the smooth flow of trade, goods distribution, investment, and the mobility of workers and communities, thereby impacting regional economic growth. “The strategic impact is strengthening connectivity in Central Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and North Sulawesi, as well as ensuring the smooth logistics supply chain and meeting community needs,” he said. ASDP Regional 4 comprises the branches of Bajoe, Selayar, Baubau, Bitung, Luwuk, Ternate, Ambon, Biak, Sorong, and Merauke, operating a total of 67 vessels and 12 ports.
