ASDP CEO deploys two ferries to ease Ketapang-Gilimanuk congestion
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry President Director Heru Widodo has deployed two vessels, KMP Jatra I and KMP Portlink 0, to strengthen service capacity and ease vehicle congestion on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing.
“ASDP continues to take operational steps to ease vehicle congestion in the Ketapang and Gilimanuk port areas,” Heru said when confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.
He said the reinforcement was carried out through fleet optimisation and vessel operating patterns to accelerate vehicle movement and maintain smooth Java–Bali connectivity.
Heru said that based on monitoring on Sunday morning at around 08.00 WIB, the vehicle queue at Ketapang was recorded at around 3 kilometres, with the tail of the queue around the Sri Tanjung Terminal.
Meanwhile on the Gilimanuk side, the vehicle queue was recorded at around 1.6 kilometres, with the tail of the queue around the Gilimanuk Mosque.
He stressed that the company understands that the congestion has a direct impact on travel time and user comfort. For this reason, various mitigation measures continue to be carried out dynamically by considering traffic conditions, fleet readiness, and shipping safety aspects.
“Therefore, we continue to carry out various operational measures to increase and optimise service capacity,” he said.
The deployment of the fleet is one of the efforts made by the state-owned ferry transport company so that vehicle movement can be cleared more quickly, while still prioritising safety and service quality.
“As part of optimal handling measures, KMP Jatra I and KMP Portlink 0 have been dispatched to Tanjung Wangi on Saturday (5/9) and are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday (8/9),” Heru revealed.
Upon arrival at Tanjung Wangi, KMP Jatra I will strengthen services on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route. Meanwhile, KMP Portlink 0 will serve the Tanjung Wangi–Lembar route with Gili Mas Port.
The arrangement is part of a route network optimisation strategy to increase service capacity and help reduce vehicle pressure on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route.
The capacity reinforcement is important amid the high movement of service users on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route.
During the period from 31 August to 5 September 2026, 7,197 passengers and 36,218 vehicles were recorded as having been transported from Ketapang Port, and 4,213 passengers and 33,810 vehicles were transported from Gilimanuk Port.
ASDP Ketapang Branch General Manager Media Syahrianto explained that ASDP together with the KSOP and BPTD regulators continues to optimise the number of vessels operating per day with an operating pattern of up to 8 trips.
“We will continue to work in the field and carry out periodic evaluations so that every available capacity can be utilised optimally. We hope that the measures taken can gradually accelerate the clearing of congestion,” Media explained.
ASDP is also continuing to coordinate with relevant stakeholders in managing the flow of vehicles to and from the port, so that movement can take place in an orderly and safe manner.
ASDP urges service users who will travel via Ketapang–Gilimanuk to plan their journey well, ensure they have a ticket before arriving at the port, and follow the instructions of officers in the field.
Service users are also expected to maintain order while in the port area and on access roads to the port.
Through fleet reinforcement, optimisation of operating patterns, and cross-stakeholder coordination, ASDP is committed to continuing to maintain smooth ferry services while ensuring Java–Bali connectivity remains optimal for every service user.
