ASDP Cancels All Ferry Services from Kupang Due to Severe Weather
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry’s Kupang branch has cancelled all ferry services from Kupang to several areas in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to severe weather. Kupang Branch Manager Ramlan Iyang, known as Alan, stated that all crossings were suspended on Sunday, 26 July 2026, because of the bad weather. In an official announcement, ASDP Kupang informed service users that the schedule was cancelled for all routes due to unfavourable weather conditions. Alan said services would resume once the weather improves. The cancelled routes include Kupang–Hansisi (Semau Island), Kupang–Rote Ndao, and Kupang–Larantuka (East Flores). The cancellation follows a sailing ban advisory from the Kupang Harbour Master and Port Authority (KSOP). Alan urged passengers to understand that the measure was taken purely for safety reasons. Earlier, the Tenau Meteorological Station of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning for high waves in NTT waters. Forecaster Salsabila Ardian reported that waves of 1.25 to 2.5 metres are likely in the southern Sape Strait, northern Flores waters, Flores-Lamakera Strait, Pantar Strait, Alor Strait, and southern Alor waters. Waves of 2.5 to 4.0 metres are expected in the northern and southern waters of Sabu Raijua.
