PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) continues to strengthen its role as the backbone of national inter-island connectivity. This commitment is manifested through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aceh Provincial Government regarding the operation of the Jakarta-Malahayati Aceh ferry route as a new strategic corridor in western Indonesia.

The agreement was signed by Aceh’s Provincial Secretary Muhammad Nasir and ASDP Deputy Managing Director Yossianis Marciano on Saturday, 23 May, at ASDP’s headquarters in Jakarta. The event was attended by Aceh government officials, ASDP’s board of directors, and management, symbolising strong synergy between regional government and national transport state-owned enterprises to bolster maritime connectivity.

Yossianis emphasised that the Jakarta-Malahayati route development is not merely about introducing a new service but part of ASDP’s transformation to create a more efficient, modern, and integrated Long Distance Ferry (LDF) ecosystem. This comes amid growing demands for faster, more efficient, and integrated logistics distribution.

“This route is expected to catalyse national logistics distribution while opening up opportunities for trade, tourism, and economic growth in Aceh and western Indonesia more broadly,” Yossi stated in a release on Monday, 26 May 2026.

He added that through this strategic collaboration, ASDP and the Aceh Provincial Government will sustainably develop ferry services, including vessel operations and fleet management, tariff setting in line with regulations, development of supporting port facilities, market promotion for service users, and enhancing safety standards and service quality for ferry transport.

Meanwhile, Aceh Provincial Secretary Muhammad Nasir expressed full support for the sustainability of this collaboration to provide affordable maritime access via RoRo ferry services.

He stated that the synergy between the Aceh Provincial Government and ASDP is a crucial step to ensure regional development agendas align with national connectivity strengthening.

“This collaboration will open up new development opportunities that can be continuously evaluated and expanded to support more comprehensive regional economic growth in the future,” he added.

The development of Long Distance Ferry services also aligns with ASDP’s business transformation to create a more competitive logistics transport system. The long-distance ferry distribution model is expected to enhance distribution cost efficiency, reduce logistics transit times, and improve overall operational effectiveness.
