ASDP Affirms Commitment to Strengthen Services Supporting School Holiday Mobility
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has affirmed its commitment to strengthening ferry services and safety to support public mobility during the school holiday period, which is expected to drive an increase in passenger and vehicle flows, especially on the strategic Merak–Bakauheni crossing. President Director Heru Widodo stated in Jakarta on Sunday that the safety, security, and comfort of service users remain the company’s top priorities in facing the school holiday period. “We have carried out thorough preparations to ensure ferry services during the school holiday period run safely, smoothly, and comfortably. Safety is the main priority that underpins every aspect of the company’s operations. Therefore, we are ensuring that all vessels, facilities, and personnel are in a state of readiness to serve the public optimally,” said Heru. As part of these efforts, ASDP is optimising its fleet, improving service quality, and strengthening safety aspects so that public travel is safe, comfortable, and smooth during the holiday season. Furthermore, as the backbone of inter-regional and inter-island connectivity, the state-owned company is ensuring all operational aspects are ready to serve public needs amid the increasing volume of vehicles and passengers. In terms of services, the company is also providing various supporting facilities at ports, including air-conditioned waiting rooms, charging stations, massage chairs, prayer facilities, and food and beverage tenants that service users can utilise while waiting for departure. Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary Windy Andale said the company is also supporting the government’s economic stimulus programme by providing a 100 percent discount on port service fees, equivalent to an average of 21.9 percent of the total ferry ticket fare. The programme applies to foot passengers, Class II vehicles, and Class IVA vehicles on seven ferry routes, including Merak–Bakauheni for both regular and express services. “Ticket purchases with the discounted fare have been open since 6 June 2026 for the travel period of 20 June to 5 July 2026,” she said. The commitment to safety is also realised through ASDP’s full support for the vessel seaworthiness spot checks conducted by the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation together with the Marine Inspector of KSOP Class I Banten at Merak Port on 10–12 June 2026. One of the vessels undergoing inspection was KMP Legundi to ensure service readiness during the 2026 School Holiday Transport period. According to her, this step aligns with the government’s efforts to ensure all passenger vessel fleets meet safety and seaworthiness standards ahead of the period of increased public mobility during the school holidays. In addition, ASDP is also optimising the use of the Ferizy digital platform as the official channel for ferry ticket reservations. The public is urged to plan their journeys early, purchase tickets before departure, and ensure the accuracy of identity data and vehicle documents to expedite the verification process at the port.
