PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has adjusted its service pattern at Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi, East Java, in response to operational disruptions involving two long distance ferry (LDF) vessels owned by PT ALP, which triggered vehicle queues at the Bali Strait crossing. ASDP Indonesia Ferry Secretary Windy Andale said that to ease the queue of vehicles waiting to cross from Ketapang to Gilimanuk, some freight vehicles are being diverted to regular ferry services. “Nevertheless, ASDP continues to prioritise smooth service for private vehicles and buses in order to maintain public mobility as people take advantage of the holiday period,” she said in a statement in Banyuwangi on Saturday. Windy added that ASDP, together with regulators and all stakeholders, continues to optimise crossing services by operating up to 29 vessels to accelerate the movement of vehicles and passengers. According to her, the various handling measures implemented have shown positive results, marked by the easing of vehicle queue congestion at Ketapang Port. In addition to operational optimisation, Windy also urged the public to take advantage of the tariff stimulus programme provided by the government during the school holiday period. “This programme applies at 14 ports on seven national strategic routes, including the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route,” she said. Service users receive a 100 per cent discount on port service fees, which on average equates to a reduction of approximately 21.9 per cent of the total crossing ticket fare. The programme is valid for journeys with departure schedules from 20 June to 5 July 2026. “We urge service users to plan their journeys well, purchase tickets in advance through Ferizy, and ensure they have a ticket before arriving at the port,” she said. “Service users are also expected to arrive according to the departure schedule stated on the ticket to minimise congestion in the port area,” Windy added.
