ASDP Accelerates Congestion Management on Ketapang-Gilimanuk Route
State-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, together with the Ministry of Transportation, the Harbourmaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), the Police, the Banyuwangi Regency Government, the East Java Provincial Government, and all ship operators, is accelerating the handling of vehicle congestion on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing. PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry President Director Heru Widodo stated that the integrated operational measures and traffic engineering being implemented have begun to show results, with vehicle queues gradually dispersing and crossing services becoming more controlled. “We understand the discomfort felt by service users and apologise for the situation. From the outset, all stakeholders have worked together to ensure services remain safe, smooth, and reliable,” he said in a statement in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Sunday. Heru noted that the increase in vehicle queues at Ketapang Port was influenced by a combination of factors, including heightened public mobility during the school holiday period. “All parties are moving quickly to maintain the smooth flow of Java-Bali connectivity, which plays a strategic role in public mobility and national logistics distribution,” Heru said. He added that during the school holiday period, the public can still take advantage of a crossing fare discount programme, which offers a 100 percent reduction on port service fees, averaging around 21.9 percent of the total ticket price, on seven strategic national routes, including Ketapang-Gilimanuk. “ASDP will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation together with all stakeholders to ensure optimal crossing services and that Java-Bali connectivity is well maintained,” Heru concluded.
