Ascenso Tyres Invests US$100 Million, Targeting Indonesia's Coal and Critical Mineral Mines

The coal and critical mineral mining activities in Indonesia continue to expand. Recognising this opportunity, Indian off-highway tyre manufacturer Ascenso Tyres is expanding its portfolio of All-Steel Radial Off-The-Road (R-OTR) tyres specifically for the Indonesian market.

This move is supported by a significant investment. Ascenso has allocated more than US$100 million to build All-Steel Radial tyre production capabilities at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in India. The funds are being utilised for infrastructure, R&D, testing facilities, and capacity expansion.

“This specific investment of US$100 million demonstrates our seriousness in developing our business within the mining segment. We do not only want to compete on price, but through product performance and reliability,” said Yogesh Mahansaria, Managing Director of Ascenso Tyres, at the Mining Indonesia 2026 event, JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Thursday (10/9).

Currently, Ascenso markets its products in over 100 countries. For the mining market, the company has been developing its Radial OTR platform since late 2023. There are now sizes ranging from 25 to 49 inches for construction, quarrying, and open-pit mining.

In entering the mining tyre business, Ascenso Tyres is doing more than just selling products. The company has deployed over 15 Field Application Engineers to key global markets, including Indonesia.

These engineers work directly in the field. They monitor tyre performance and understand mine operational conditions, using the gathered data as input for Ascenso’s global R&D team.

“When entering the mining sector, we maintain the same approach, which is to understand customer needs directly from the field. Therefore, our field engineers are placed in various key markets for a faster response,” said Dhaval Nanavati, CEO of Ascenso Tyres.

This approach stems from Ascenso’s four years of experience in the Agriculture, Forestry, and Construction segments. In Indonesia, Ascenso is showcasing the 27.00R49 EMTY 4330 (E4) tyre from its ‘Beast Range’. Moving forward, the company also plans to add new sizes and tread patterns through 2027-2028.
