Asaki: Capacity Expansion and Innovation to Strengthen Ceramic Industry
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ceramic Industry Association (Asaki) believes that capacity expansion, investment, and innovation are vital factors in strengthening the national ceramic industry and driving Indonesia into the top four global ceramic producers.
Asaki General Chairman Edy Suyanto stated that national ceramic production capacity is projected to reach approximately 672 million square metres per year by 2026, increasing to around 728 million square metres by 2029.
“Indonesia possesses a strong manufacturing foundation to elevate the national ceramic industry to a higher level. With ongoing capacity expansion, investment, and innovation, we have a real opportunity to enter the top four ceramic producers in the world,” Edy said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to him, the strengthening of the ceramic industry is supported by domestic raw materials, new investments, and government policies. Currently, approximately 95 per cent of national ceramic production is absorbed by the domestic market, leaving significant room for producers to expand into export markets.
As part of the efforts to boost the contribution of the national ceramic industry, the association will hold KERAMIKA 2027 from 10–13 June next year at NICE PIK 2, Tangerang, Banten, designed as a platform for business, sourcing, and networking.
“KERAMIKA 2027 will serve as a momentum to connect the national industry with technology, investment, and global markets,” said Edy.
Through the International Buyer Program & Business Matching, producers will be introduced to international buyers, importers, and distributors to open opportunities for distribution partnerships, exports, and project procurement.
The Chairperson of the Keramika Indonesia Committee, Desi Natalia, noted that many domestic producers are ready in terms of quality and capacity, but still require more direct access to overseas buyers and partners.
Therefore, she hopes this exhibition can serve as a stage for the domestic industry to showcase its best capabilities.
