ASABRI Equity Plummets by Rp673 Billion, DPR Highlights Governance Issues
Nasril Bahar, a member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has highlighted the precarious condition of PT ASABRI (Persero)’s equity, which remains in a negative position.
He stated that the sustainability of ASABRI requires serious attention, particularly regarding aspects of corporate governance and investment management. According to ASABRI’s presentation, the company’s equity was recorded at negative Rp673 billion as of August 2026. This condition represents a decline compared to 2025, when the level was negative Rp363 billion.
“ASABRI is facing problems because this company started with negative equity. To this day, it continues to have negative equity. This is something we must certainly safeguard,” Nasundar said during a specific working visit by Commission VI of the DPR RI in Bandung, West Java, as reported on Saturday (3/10/2026).
During the same period, ASABRI also recorded a comprehensive loss of Rp310 billion. It is understood that this condition was influenced by investment returns failing to meet the 2026 Annual Budget and Business Plan (RKAP) targets due to domestic and global economic pressures.
Addressing this situation, Nasril assessed that improving governance must be the primary focus to ensure that previous issues do not recur. “What we need to safeguard is governance. They must provide reports on investment issues and investment programmes. These recurring problems must not be allowed to happen,” he emphasised.
The PAN Party politician also stressed the need for oversight regarding ASABRI’s investment management, including the specific investment instruments utilised by the company.
During the working visit, ASABRI further explained the decline in its equity position up to August 2026, despite the company having previously recorded improvements in its equity condition since 2021. ASABRI noted that those improvements were supported by enhanced investment performance and an additional UPSL fund of Rp4.55 trillion.
Nasril, a legislator from the North Sumatra III constituency, believes that the issue of negative equity cannot be addressed solely through working visits. Commission VI of the DPR RI intends to bring these findings to parliamentary discussions to determine the next strategic steps.
“We are pushing to bring this to the DPR. We are pushing for what is needed and for a way out to resolve this negative equity. Whether an injection is necessary, it certainly requires re-evaluation. We will bring this to the meeting,” he concluded.
