Asaba case suspect sent to Salemba

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Prosecutor's Office incarcerated on Wednesday the sole suspect in the murder of PT Asaba director, Boedyharto Angsono, at Salemba prison, pending trial.

Gunawan Santoso, son-in-law of Angsono, had been held at a police detention center since his arrest in September. He objected to the move fearing retribution from military elements.

The premeditated killing was carried out in July by four contracted Marines, and an Army's Special Forces (Kopassus) soldier moonlighting as a bodyguard, Edy Siyep, was also killed during the incident.

Police have completed the investigation and submitted the case file to prosecutors on Wednesday. -- JP
