As Strategic Government Partner, Anthony Leong Pledges to Elevate Regional HIPMI Entrepreneurs

Jakarta – Anthony Leong, the candidate for Chairman of the BPP HIPMI for the 2026-2029 period, has emphasised that his team will champion the aspirations of regional entrepreneurs to level up and participate in national programmes or projects run by the government. He assured that this will be one of the main focuses of the programmes he intends to pursue if successfully elected as Chairman of the BPP HIPMI for the 2026-2029 period. “Regional entrepreneurs must not be treated merely as objects; they should be involved in all national trade and economic activities at the central level,” Anthony stated in his remarks on Monday, 20 April 2026. He added that this is the very purpose of HIPMI’s existence, which is now present in 38 provinces and regencies/cities throughout Indonesia, so that entrepreneurs in major cities and other regions can advance and grow together. To realise this goal, Anthony said his side has learned from the Chairman of the BPP HIPMI Honorary Council, Bahlil Lahadalia. While serving as Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM from 2019-2024, Bahlil established a rule that every investment entering Indonesia must involve local entrepreneurs. “This is what we must fight for together. I was born in Jakarta and am a Jakarta entrepreneur, but I cannot accept if industries in the regions, for example in Kalimantan or West Nusa Tenggara, anywhere, are operated and created by Jakarta entrepreneurs again,” Anthony said. “Regional entrepreneurs must level up; regional HIPMI entrepreneurs must keep moving; we must fight together for their economic skills,” he added. Therefore, if successfully elected to lead BPP HIPMI in the next period, Anthony promises to bring HIPMI to become a strategic partner of the government to achieve his goal of elevating regional entrepreneurs. “We are committed to making HIPMI a strategic partner of the government, a tool for the struggle of our regional HIPMI friends, a tool for business matching, and for how large industries must collaborate with industries in HIPMI,” Anthony stated.
