As of Yesterday, Only 8.7 Million Taxpayers Have Submitted Their Annual Tax Returns
The Directorate General of Taxes has recorded 8,783,653 taxpayers who have submitted their annual tax returns. In detail, as of 22 March 2026, employee individual taxpayers who have reported number 7,753,294, while non-employee individual taxpayers stand at 846,494 for the fiscal year from January to December 2025. Meanwhile, corporate annual tax return filers number 167,988 in rupiah and 134 in US dollars. For taxpayers with differing fiscal years, there are 182,171 corporate filers in rupiah and 138 using US dollars. Additionally, annual tax returns with differing fiscal years reported starting from 1 August 2025 include 1,535 corporate filers in rupiah and 21 in US dollars. Previously, the Director General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, Bimo Wijayanto, urged the public to promptly submit their Annual Tax Notification Letters (SPT) before the Eid al-Fitr holiday, expected on 20 March 2026. According to him, the habit of reporting SPT near the deadline could lead to system overload. “Our habit since primary school is to like injury time, cramming the night before,” said Bimo during a media briefing quoted on Monday (16/3/2026). On the other hand, by submitting SPT early, the public can celebrate Eid with peace of mind without bearing obligations. “So that Eid is truly a return to purity, just report the taxes promptly because otherwise the Eid might feel less sincere.”
