JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The atmosphere of Idul Adha yesterday permeated the walls of the KPK detention facility housing 62 inmates, including former officials facing corruption charges such as Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and Immanuel Ebenezer. Muslim inmates gathered for Idul Adha prayers in the morning, including former Pati Regent Sudewo, a suspect in a case involving extortion and appointment of village officials. A total of 52 inmates across two KPK detention facilities participated in the Idul Adha prayers, uniformly dressed in white before returning to the KPK building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (27 May 2026). Families of the inmates began arriving with food parcels and fruits at the KPK’s Merah Putih Detention Facility. Various home-cooked meals were brought to be shared during extended visiting hours until 1:00 PM WIB. Amidst the scene, Eny Retno, wife of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, was present with her children. This Idul Adha occasion provided families a chance to reunite with the man affectionately known as Gus Yaqut. Eny said her husband was in good health, expressing gratitude that the entire family could visit together due to the Idul Adha holiday. “Alhamdulillah, Father is well. Today is a special day, Idul Adha, so we’re grateful all the children could come as it’s a holiday,” Eny explained. For Eny, the visit was more than just a check-up; it was an opportunity to offer prayers and hope for the family to reunite as before. “I also extend Idul Adha greetings to all. May we celebrate this blessed day with good hearts. Please forgive our wrongdoings,” she said. Eny also expressed hope that her husband’s legal case would conclude favourably. Yaqut Cholil Qoumas is facing allegations of corruption related to the 2023-2024 Hajj quota. “As for the case, I hope everything resolves well. What is right will be seen as right, and all can be resolved properly,” Eny added.
