As Head of Bakom, Qodari Highlights Social Media Behaving Like the Press

Head of the Government Communication Agency M. Qodari has touched on the current social media landscape that plays a role similar to mass media. He opined that the state of mass media today has changed and differs from the conditions 10 to 20 years ago. “There have already been several thoughts; clearly, our media landscape is very different from 10 to 20 years ago, because besides mass media, there is also social media, and social media today partly behaves like the press,” said Qodari after the inauguration at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (27/4). Qodari mentioned that he also highlighted this matter, considering the differences in rules between mass media and social media. He stated that this presents its own challenges moving forward. Since the leadership of Prabowo on 20 October 2024, Qodari has held three different positions in the government circle. Today, Qodari was inaugurated as Head of Bakom RI, replacing Angga Raka Prabowo. Previously, Qodari served as Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP). That position is now filled by Retired General Dudung Abdurachman. Before that, Qodari served as Deputy Head of KSP, assisting A. M. Putranto, who was then Head of KSP.
