As Electric Vehicles Increase, Asuransi Astra Expands Evacuation Services

Asuransi Astra has enhanced its vehicle evacuation services through Garda Siaga by utilising hydraulic flatbeds. This service is now available at 31 points across Indonesia, targeting the increasing need for specialised handling for electric vehicles.

The hydraulic flatbed transports vehicles entirely on top of the tow truck bed, eliminating the need to tow vehicles by relying on the front or rear wheels. This method is employed to reduce the risk of additional damage during the evacuation process.

The demand for this evacuation method has emerged alongside the rising number of hybrid, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEV) in the automotive market. The characteristics of electrified vehicles necessitate handling processes that differ from those of conventional vehicles.

To expand service coverage, Asuransi Astra is collaborating with AstraWorld. Garda Siaga now operates at 31 points spread across various regions in Indonesia.

President Director of Asuransi Astra, Maximilian Agatisianus, stated that the changing types of vehicles are altering the requirements for roadside assistance services. “All the innovations we present today are a manifestation of Asuransi Astra’s commitment to maintaining trust and providing a sense of security for our customers,” Maximilian said in a statement on Monday (14/09/2026).

In addition to evacuation services, Asuransi Astra is developing services through the myGarda application. The application features nearly 20 services, including emergency assistance requests, claim submissions, survey processes, and outpatient control requests.

The addition of hydraulic flatbeds and the expansion of Garda Siaga represent Asuransi Astra’s service adjustments in response to the evolving types of vehicles in the market. With 31 service points, vehicle evacuation can now be conducted in more regions.
