As Eid Approaches, Parliamentary Member Urges Holiday Allowance for Contract Teachers

Jakarta — Deputy Chair of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives Kurniasih Mufidayati has called for a policy providing holiday allowances (THR) for contract teachers ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026.

This call comes as many contract teachers remain uncertain about receiving THR payments.

“Contract teachers have dedicated themselves to educating the nation’s future generations despite various limitations. Therefore, they deserve attention, including in the form of holiday allowances ahead of Eid,” Kurniasih stated in a statement on Friday (13 March 2026).

Contract teachers often depend on policies set by local governments, schools, and educational foundations where they work.

Mufidayati has urged local governments to consider allocating THR budgets for part-time contract teachers with PPPK status. She has also encouraged coordination between central and local governments to strengthen efforts to improve the welfare of contract teachers, including ensuring that holiday allowances for contract teachers become part of education budget planning.
