As Closure Approaches, Recruitment for Red and White Fishermen's Village Staff Intensifies
The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries states that enthusiasm among applicants to join the Red and White Fishermen’s Village (KNMP) programme is immense. The national recruitment for KNMP human resources will close on 24 April 2026.
“As of today at 10:00 WIB, the number of applicants for the four open positions has reached 118,676, reflecting the high level of public interest in contributing to the development of the marine and fisheries sector,” said the Head of the Marine and Fisheries Human Resources Extension and Development Agency (BPPSDM KP), I Nyoman Radiarta, in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday (24/4/2026).
Nyoman explained that each KNMP location will be filled by four key integrated positions: Operational Manager, Production Head, Quality Assuror, and Financial Administration. He emphasised that this recruitment is designed to produce superior human resources who are not only technically competent but also resilient in character.
“KNMP requires human resources who can not only work but also lead, adapt, and create added value. Therefore, selected participants will receive reserve component training to build discipline and resilience, as well as managerial and thematic training tailored to field needs,” Nyoman said.
Nyoman elaborated that reserve component training is an essential part of the national selection process, which not only tests competence but also shapes character, leadership, and problem-solving skills in the field. This approach is expected to create professional, independent, and results-oriented fishery zone managers.
Nationally, Nyoman continued, the KNMP human resource needs total 5,476 individuals who will be placed in various locations across Indonesia as part of efforts to accelerate the operationalisation of marine and fisheries-based economic zones. He stated that the four required positions are operational manager, production head, quality assuror, and financial administration.
“The Operational Manager serves as the main driver of the business, from preparing operational plans, coordinating business units, to making data-based strategic decisions on the ground,” Nyoman added.
Nyoman conveyed that this position is key to ensuring all business activities run effectively, adaptively, and sustainably. On the technical side, the Production Head is responsible for planning and optimising production activities, ensuring efficiency, and managing fishery facilities and infrastructure.
“This role also includes overseeing post-production processes to maintain the quality and value of fishery products in the market,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Nyoman said, the Quality Assuror ensures that fishery products meet quality standards through the implementation of a quality assurance system from upstream to downstream, hygiene and sanitation supervision, and cold chain control. This role is crucial in maintaining the competitiveness of products in markets that increasingly demand high quality.
Nyoman added that Financial Administration plays a role in maintaining business health through transaction recording, cash flow management, financial reporting, and supporting financing access. Financial transparency and accountability form the foundation of KNMP business sustainability.
“With the remaining registration time very limited, the public who meet the qualifications are urged to seize this opportunity immediately,” he added.
Nyoman stated that the KNMP programme is one of the government’s concrete steps in building an integrated, modern, and competitive fisheries business ecosystem, while also opening real contribution opportunities for the younger generation in promoting coastal community welfare. This recruitment aligns with the directives of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, who emphasised that KNMP is part of the blue economy-based transformation of the marine and fisheries sector.
“KNMP must become the engine of the coastal village economy. We want to ensure that fishery management is carried out in a modern, integrated manner and provides maximum added value for the community. Therefore, the recruited human resources must be superior, have integrity, and be ready to become agents of change in the field,” Trenggono said.
