The Extraordinary National Congress (Munaslub) of the Indonesian Advocates Association (AAI), held in Surabaya on Friday, 18 September, unanimously appointed Tjandra Sridjaja Pradjonggo as the General Chairperson of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the AAI for the 202<0xC2>6–2031 term.

The appointment received full support from 19 Regional Leadership Councils (DPC) from across Indonesia.

The decision was reached during a plenary session led by Session Chair Efran Helmi Juni. After the Steering Committee reported all incoming proposals, Efran sought approval from the session participants. All regional councils had previously held branch member meetings and agreed upon the same candidate, who had also expressed his willingness to accept the mandate.

“We are grateful that all branches have responded positively. He is willing to be nominated and has accepted this nomination,” Efran stated before the session.

Following the unanimous approval, the session chair read Decree Number 08/Munaslub/AAI/IX/2026 regarding the Ratification of Plenary Session Results. In addition to confirming the appointment of the General Chairperson, the decision mandated the formation of a new management board, with the inauguration to take place no later than 40 days from the date of the decree.

The decree was signed collectively by the session leaders, namely Chair Efran Helmi Juni, Secretary Medsi, and members Daud Aritonang, Chandra Gusti, and Gianina Elizabeth.

Efran emphasised that the election agenda was complete. The session then proceeded to the stage of handing over the session results and transferring the mandate to the new leadership, following the end of the term for the previous management, which is now in demissionary status.

In his first speech after being appointed, Tjandra expressed his gratitude for the trust shown by all branches and stated his readiness to shoulder the mandate.

“Our journey will be difficult. But because there is a decision requesting me to steer the ship, I accept it sincerely and with great enthusiasm,” he said.

He emphasised that the unanimous trust provided by the 19 regional councils was not a personal victory, but a responsibility to reunite all members of the AAI.

“There are no more barriers between us. From this day forward, the AAI is one home, and my task is to ensure that every AAI advocate feels a sense of belonging to that home,” he said.

Tjandra invited all AAI members to work together to build the organisation so that it becomes stronger and capable of competing with other advocate organisations. “We shall strive to stand on equal footing with any other association in Indonesia,” he concluded.
