Arya Resigns, KIP Appoints Gede Narayana as New Vice Chairman

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Information Commission (KIP) has appointed Gede Narayana as the Vice Chairman of KIP to maintain programme continuity and the execution of institutional duties after Arya Sandhiyudha resigned from his position as vice chairman and commissioner. KIP Chairman Donny Yoesgiantoro stated that the decision was reached through a plenary meeting after the institution received Arya’s resignation letter on 8 May 202<0xA0>6. “Based on the plenary results, we, the commissioners, have agreed to appoint Mr Gede Narayana as the Vice Chairman of the Central Information Commission, replacing the Vice Chairman who resigned,” Donny said in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to Donny, the resignation process was viewed not merely as the end of a commissioner’s term, but also with consideration for its impact on court proceedings and various KIP work programmes. Prior to the plenary meeting, KIP conducted internal and external communication, coordination, and consolidation to ensure the transition process followed institutional mechanisms. “We have a mechanism, namely the Plenary Meeting. The Plenary Meeting is the highest meeting in a public body, specifically within the Central Information Commission, for making decisions,” he noted. Donny explained that the results of the plenary meeting accepting Arya’s resignation will be submitted to the President along with the submitted resignation letter. KIP is also awaiting presidential ratification regarding the changes to the institution’s leadership structure. In addition to ensuring a smooth leadership transition, KIP reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the principles of public information disclosure through transparency, public participation, and accountability. “Regarding ‘Open Government’, we all realise there must be transparency, public participation, and finally, accountability,” said Donny. He added that Gede Narayana’s appointment as vice chairman could potentially create a vacancy in the position of Commissioner for the Regulatory Field, which Gede previously held. KIP will further examine the mechanism for filling this position, including the possibility of an interim replacement (PAW), once presidential ratification is obtained.
