JAKARTA — Technology infrastructure costs are one of the considerations for companies developing digital services. Arupa Cloud Nusantara and Civo have introduced cloud services in Jakarta which they say can reduce operating costs while making modern applications easier to manage.

Through its Civo Indonesia Region service, the company offers cloud-native infrastructure including Kubernetes, virtual machines, managed PostgreSQL databases and data storage. The infrastructure is intended for companies that want to develop applications without taking on the complexity of managing the systems themselves.

In a price comparison published by Civo, the monthly cost of a general-purpose Kubernetes cluster with three nodes and an equivalent configuration in Jakarta is claimed to be 49–62% lower than that of hyperscale providers. However, the comparison uses configurations and pricing assumptions set by Civo.

Civo Chief Commercial Officer Simon Hansford said companies’ need for digital infrastructure continued to grow as the use of modern applications expanded. Businesses needed services that were easier to manage and had transparent cost structures.

“Indonesia has significant potential for adopting cloud-native technology, as businesses’ need grows for infrastructure that is easier to manage, offers cost transparency and is designed to support modern applications,” Simon said in a statement on Friday (23 October).

The service is operated in Indonesia by Arupa Cloud Nusantara. Customers can use the infrastructure to run applications, manage databases and scale service capacity as needed.

In addition to offering rupiah pricing through Arupa, Civo says it charges no data-transfer fees for services in the Jakarta Region, for either incoming or outgoing data. Usage is calculated hourly and billed monthly.

This model gives companies another option for budgeting digital infrastructure expenditure. However, cost efficiency still needs to be assessed against each company’s computing needs, storage capacity, usage patterns and technical support requirements.

Arupa Cloud Nusantara Chief Executive Officer Reza Kertadjaja said the partnership with Civo aimed to broaden infrastructure choices for companies in Indonesia. Arupa also provides technology consultancy and local technical support to help customers manage cloud services.

Operationally, the platform supports various infrastructure management tools, including Terraform, an application programming interface (API), a command-line interface (CLI) and a web-based dashboard. Civo says virtual machines can be provisioned in less than 60 seconds, while Kubernetes clusters can be launched in under 90 seconds.

The companies also plan to expand services to meet artificial intelligence (AI) requirements. GPU Compute and GPU Kubernetes services in the Jakarta Region are scheduled to become available from December 2026, with reservations through Arupa already open.

The new cloud infrastructure option adds to the choices available to companies undertaking digital transformation. For businesses, the decision to use cloud services depends not only on price, but also on the infrastructure’s ability to support application growth, maintain service reliability and meet long-term business needs.
