Arun marks LNG shipment

JAKARTA (JP): PT Arun, a gas liquefaction company based in Aceh, has launched its 2,500th shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Japan, a company executive said.

"The 2,500th shipment was carried out by the Aquarius tanker, which has a capacity of 125,468 cubic meters," Hariadi Soematri, Arun's general manager, was quoted as saying by Antara during the ceremony on Saturday.

Arun, founded in 1978, is owned by the United States-based Mobil Oil, Indonesia's state oil company Pertamina and a group of Japanese LNG buyers.

Indonesia is the biggest producer of LNG in the world. Most of the gas is exported to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. (hdj)
