It seems that now one will have to pay handsomely for one's
popularity. A meeting held recently in Jakarta between tax
officials, production house managers and producers revealed that
a new law on income tax had been passed and would be imposed on
famous artists.

It goes without saying that the public also plays an
significant role in making an artist famous. It is they who
idolize an artist and make him or her into a cult figure.
Therefore, I am personally in favor of the idea of heavily taxing
famous artists. Artists should also realize that their life of
glamor, gossip and fame will cost them dearly, both morally and
financially.
